Mr. Venable is the founding shareholder of the firm and is a Registered Patent Attorney. Mr. Venable’s practice is concentrated in intellectual property litigation, prosecution of patents and trademarks, and licensing. Mr. Venable also counsels clients in software protection and trade secrets. Mr. Venable is also currently serving in his fifth year as a Judge Pro Tempore in the Maricopa County Superior Court where he presides over trials and mediates disputes.
Mr. Venable has litigated over 110 cases in various jurisdictions throughout the U.S., successfully obtained favorable reexaminations of four patents, litigated before the Trademark Trial and Appeals Board, and has also prosecuted hundreds of patent and trademark applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Currently serving as lead counsel for the plaintiff in MDY Industries LLC v. Blizzard Entertainment. The case has been labeled one of the most important software copyright and cyberlaw cases in the country and is currently before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Obtained summary judgment in a trademark infringement matter in Arizona District Court;
Obtained a favorable reexamination of a patent before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office;
